Fast, but incomplete
- Pros: Amazingly fast, compact size.
- Cons: This is a HALF-HEIGHT box. Also the included burner is a CD R+W/DVD ROM - not a DVD burner! Storage is only 80GB HDD - you really need an external drive or access to a Z drive. VGA output only. USB ports keep complaining they're not HiSpeed (2.0) - very odd. The included mouse (wired laser) is awful. I used my old Logitech roller ball, which is still the gold standard in pointing devices.
- Other Thoughts: Using Photoshop CS4, this machine is blindingly fast, and with a 1 GB onboard video chip it needs no extra graphics card. I also bought the ASUS VW246H 24" monitor, and this baby looks GOOD. All apps open very fast, even Internet Explorer 8, and Firefox is faster than ever. Highly recommended as a serious work station, especially for graphics pros.
Great Value. Solid Machine
- Pros: The ability to choose between XP and Vista is good. I'm using two of these machines to run a point of sale system at a bar and they run fast and smooth. Good value for what you get.
- Cons: Dell sometimes offers these with nice monitors. One of the two machines I bought doesn't shutdown completely no matter what I do......weird!
- Other Thoughts: Good components. Inexpensive.

- Pros: Amazing parts for the cost! I highly recommend this model over the slightly cheaper version, the Core 2 Duo in this model supports Intel VT while the other one doesn't. I can't believe the stability and smooth functioning of this machine! It's currently being used as a management machine in the server room (just goes to show how much we've liked it!). As I write out this review, I'm currently installing a Windows XP VM with 512MB RAM and two virtualized CPUs, VT and nested paging enabled... and the system's still running smooth as ice! Speaking of ice, the cooling on this box is perfect! It's not overdoing it and not insufficient -- just the right amount of airflow to keep it nice and balanced under full workload and a little cold to the touch when idle. I recommend this workstation to anyone looking for a great value for their money.
- Cons: None! Just another fine piece of business-oriented engineering from Dell!
- Other Thoughts: This could make a fair server if the CPU were to be replaced... Hmm...
Also, if you are going to buy this machine (which I suggest), it runs EXTREMELY fast & smooth with the installed 2GB of RAM (2 sticks of 1GB, 2 DIMM slots total) but I myself am going for 4GB (2x2GB) just to handle larger workloads.
